Just when I thought that soccer boots worn by professional soccer players were plasticky, shiny and downright horrible, I came upon an amazing manufacturer of soccer boots. The Italian shoe maker "Pantofola d'Oro" ("golden slipper" in italian) has been making leather footwear since 1886. These highly pretentious, classic boots are made in kangaroo leather ensuring the softest feel a shoe can offer.
If Pantofola d'Oro makes the best soccer boots in the market, why don't all professional soccer players wear them? The answer lies in sponsorships, the biggest sporting brands sponsor professional soccer players paying some of them millions of dollars a year to wear their products with the objective to get more world wide sales in all of its products. Pantofola d'Oro is about craftsmanship, every boot is handmade, and for that reason has a very small and exclusive market, not to mention ridiculous prices.
These amazing boots have been worn by the likes of Garrincha, Fabio Capello, Johan Cruyff, Jürgen Klinsmann, Roberto Mancini, Marco Van Basten, Dino Zoff and most recently by the infamous Paolo Di Canio.
Fortunately for everyone that doesn't play soccer Pantofola d'Oro makes amazing casual shoes, and are just as stylish, durable and of the highest quality as their professional counterparts.
What would happen if Messi played in Pantofola d'Oro boots?
